Have you ever fell in love with your bestfriend?
As they say, love starts with friendship; but for one to realize that his feelings are really love and not merely concern for a true friend is truly agonizing. By the way, my first boyfriend is my friend (and our relationship became really chaotic!); let's talk about that later.
Last month, I was searching for LGBT-related movies and I found the Taiwanese movie, Shèng xià Guāng Nián or Eternal Summer (2006). It's plot is easy to catch like gay-friend-turned-lover dilemma.
When I was watching the movie, you could really feel the emotions being thrown out by the characters, especially that of Jonathan (Bryant Chang). I even watched it two or three times for me to truly savor the way they perform their roles.
Every time I see Carrie (Kate Yeung), Jonathan's friend-turned-dumped girlfriend, moving on to Jonathan's bestfriend Shane (Joseph Chang), I can't hide my revulsion and loathing. She knows that Jonathan dumped her for Shane, and she even had the guts to have Shane as her boyfriend. But true love find its way, when Jonathan decided to leave Shane for good, he felt that he can't lose his friend. And finally realized that he also desire him. It's a love triangle you can't miss; but it's really obvious that Shane and Jonathan are meant for each other.
One of my favorite scenes is when Jonathan and Shane fell asleep while studying. When Jonathan woke up, he removed the book from Shane's face and stared at him. I do at times too; you could really see how gentle a person is when he's sleeping.
You just have to see the whole movie since I can't truly find the words to describe it. It's really good. By the way, Jonathan is cute and Shane is hot.
